Wedding Dress Styles for the Winter Bride

January 31, 2018 | Posted in Uncategorized, Weddings

Planning a wedding during the winter? Well, if you happen to be getting married in New Jersey where the winters can be cold and windy, you’ll want to make sure that you choose the proper attire. Unless you want to end up having to throw a blanket or coat on top of your wedding gown, the bride should be sure to choose a dress and accessories that will help to keep her warm. Below are a few winter wedding dress styles you might consider.

ball gown

 A Ball Gown

Dreaming of a fairytale wedding? It turns out that ball gowns make perfect choices for wedding dresses in the winter. Why? Well because they’re packed with layers which keep the bride warm. Wearing some tights underneath will ensure that your legs are warm whether you have an indoor or outdoor ceremony.

long sleeves

Long Sleeves

Sleeves on wedding dresses are making a comeback. Sleeves are not only intricate details to add to a dress, but the subtle lace layers help to keep the bride’s arms from feeling chilly. You can choose a gown with sleeves that have intricate details like lace, crystals, and jewels to really stand out on your day.

faux fur

If it’s warmth you’re after, then you can add another texture to your wedding dress by considering faux fur additions. Faux fur capes are very stylish and very warm. You can go for a traditional white or beige, or add some contrast with a rich dark brown. Add a few embellishments like a stone or jewel buttons and clasps and you’re ready for whatever mother nature brings your way.

thick fabric

Thicker Fabrics

When getting married in the winter, it is a good idea to consider the types of fabrics used to make your dress.  Lightweight materials will cause you to get colder faster. Consider cold weather fabrics like taffeta, velvet, and silk to help keep your body temperature up.

Your wedding dress (outside of you) is the star of the show. You don’t want to mess that up by having to cover it with a coat or blanket. Therefore, choose a wedding dress that can withstand a little cold and whatever else the winter season might throw your way.
